Suno v6 prompt upgrader
Suno's field names (Style of Music, Lyrics, Exclude, Title) are read if you kept them. Otherwise everything above the first [Section] tag counts as Styles.

What it checks
The rules, and why each one matters.
Tag lists and weights
Twenty comma tags and (piano:1.3) weights were how older prompts worked. v6 follows sentences that direct each part; weights get read as words.
Negatives and quality words
"No drums" adds drums, and "radio-ready" grades the record instead of directing it. Negatives move to Exclude; grading words go.
Artist names and model tags
Suno blocks artist names and can flag them as copyright. "v4.5" in Styles does nothing. Both are removed; the sound words around them stay.
Styles hidden in the lyrics
[Genre: house] and [BPM: 124] lines were a v3.5 / v4 trick. They move into Styles, where v6 reads them.
Bare tags, repeats and directions
[Verse] with no cue, (x2) shorthand and (whispered) directions that Suno sings as a second voice. Repeats are written out; directions move into the header.
The ending
Old sheets rarely say how the song stops, so v6 fades, loops or cuts off. The full package always ends on an [End | …] cue.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
- Why did my old Suno prompt stop working in v6?
- v6 retired the older models and reads prompts differently: it follows directed sentences more than tag lists, sings what's in parentheses, and pulls genres toward pop without a clear lead tag. Habits that were harmless in v4.5 now change the song.
- Does it keep my own wording?
- Yes. The upgrader only removes what v6 misreads. In the full package your cleaned Styles opens the new prompt word for word, with the rest written around it.
- Are my prompts sent anywhere?
- Not here. The upgrader runs in your browser with code, no AI model. The full package is built only when you ask for it in the studio.
- What about the Exclude field?
- Older prompts often had no Exclude at all, or put negatives in Styles. Negatives move into Exclude as short category words, kept under ten terms.
- Will the converted song sound the same?
- No promise: v6 is a different model. Keeping your own words and tempo gets you the closest start, and the package's settings card says which sliders hold it there.
