The 1,000-character cut-off
Suno drops whatever comes after 1,000 characters without warning, usually the mix and the ending. The meter shows where you are against a comfortable 800.
Negatives in Styles
"No trap hats" still says trap hats. Styles is read as a list of things to put in, so every ban belongs in Exclude. Safe fixes move them there.
Grading words
"Radio-ready", "professional", "mastered" tell the band nothing. "Crisp" or "polished" only work attached to a part ("crisp snare").
Exclude conflicts
A word in both Styles and Exclude asks for it and bans it at once. Suno settles that differently on every roll.
Placement said too often
If the bass, the pads and the vocal are all "up front", nothing is. Give each part its own place in the mix.
A short Exclude list
Under 10 category words for the things Suno keeps adding. A long ban list dilutes itself.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
- How long can a Suno Styles prompt be?
- The Style of Music field takes up to 1,000 characters, and text past that is cut off silently. Around 800 leaves room to edit.
- Why does Suno ignore my Exclude styles?
- Usually because the same thing is also asked for in Styles, sometimes as a negative ("no drums"), or the list is so long each term carries little weight. The checker finds both.
- Why did Suno rewrite my Styles?
- In v6 the Variety slider and My Taste can change your prompt before generation. Set Variety to 0 and turn My Taste off when you want your words kept, and verify the controls in your own composer.
- Does it send my prompt anywhere?
- No. The checks run in your browser with code. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
