What it checks

The rules, and why each one matters.

Bars to time

A bar of 4/4 is four beats, so at 120 BPM it lasts two seconds. Every section's start time and the total length update as you change the tempo or the bars.

Genre templates

Start from the radio-edit arrangement of 20 genres, from house and UK garage to country and metal, then add, cut, rename or reorder sections.

Length that holds together

Songs past about three and a half minutes in one generation tend to wander: a verse nobody wrote, a long fade. The builder warns before you get there.

Intro and first chorus

Long intros and a first chorus after the one-minute mark are common reasons to reroll. Both are flagged, with the fix.

Cued lyric headers

Every section becomes a header with a direction after the bar, [Verse 1 | close and conversational], ending on [End | clean ending] so the song stops on time.

The Styles line

An arrangement sentence with each section's bar count, ready to paste into Styles so the plan is said twice: in the lyrics and in the prompt.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

How do I work out a song's length from BPM?
Seconds = bars × beats per bar × 60 ÷ BPM. In 4/4 that's bars × 240 ÷ BPM, so 64 bars at 128 BPM is two minutes. The calculator adds every section up for you.
How long should a song be?
Most radio and streaming songs run between about 2:30 and 3:30, with the first chorus by about a minute. Club tracks run longer, with longer intros and outros for DJs.
How long can a Suno song be?
Suno v6 can generate up to eight minutes at once, but long generations tend to drift. Plan about three minutes with a clear ending cue, and use Extend for more.
What do 6/8 and 3/4 change?
3/4 has three beats a bar, so the same number of bars is shorter. 6/8 is counted here at a dotted-quarter pulse, two beats a bar, the way most 6/8 tempos are given.
