Mureka, from Kunlun Tech, ships new models quickly. Its homepage lists model V9.5, while plenty of third-party reviews from mid-2026 still describe V8, so check the version before you trust any review, including this one.
Where Mureka is different
It starts from sound you already have. Upload a reference track or hum a melody, and Mureka generates around it. Suno can work from uploaded audio too, through Cover and Extend, but Mureka puts the reference at the front of the workflow.
Lyrics are flexible. Write your own, generate them, or import them. Region editing lets you redo part of a song, and stem separation and downloads are included on paid plans.
There's an API. If you're building something rather than writing songs one at a time, that matters.
Where Suno is different
Prompt control. Suno's split of Styles (what the band plays), lyrics with cued section headers, and Exclude (what to keep out) gives you a lot of precise control once you know how to use it. Our v6 prompt guide covers it field by field.
Length and editing depth. v6 runs up to eight minutes, with Replace Section, Extend, Cover, stems, and Studio on Premier.
Custom models. Suno can fine-tune v6 on six or more of your own tracks, so new songs start from your sound rather than a generic one.
Price and rights
The headline prices match: Mureka Basic $8 and Pro $24 a month billed yearly; Suno Pro $8 and Premier $24 billed yearly. Mureka's pricing page didn't load when we checked, so confirm monthly-billing prices and song allowances on its site.
Mureka's site claims full commercial rights. Suno grants commercial use on paid plans for songs downloaded within the monthly allowance (20 or 60), remixes excluded. Mureka doesn't disclose its training data; Suno says v6 was trained on licensed Warner, BMG and Believe material, and is still being sued by Universal and Sony.
The bottom line
Hummers and reference-first producers should try Mureka. People who write detailed prompts and want the deepest edit toolkit should stay with Suno. Whichever you use, the free lyric checker catches the habits that make any model's vocals sound generated: clichés, lines too long to sing, choruses that drift.
