A Suno prompt generator that checks its own work

Give it an idea, a genre and a voice. Get Styles, Exclude, tagged lyrics, a title and a settings card, each written the way v6 reads it and linted before you spend a credit.

What it generates

Six fields, each ready to paste.

01

Title

The hook as it's sung, six words at most. The chorus sings it first and last, so Suno has a line to build the melody around.

02

Styles

Written in the order v6 listens: genre and tempo, era, lead vocal, drums, bass, parts with one hero, the arrangement, the mix, the ending. Aimed at 800 characters and never past 1,000.

03

Exclude

What the genre must not drift into, as short category words, at most 9. Negatives live here, never in Styles, where "no drums" tends to add drums.

04

Lyrics with cued tags

Every section header carries a direction — [Bridge | bare, voice and acoustic only] — and the same words appear in Styles, so v6 hears each instruction twice. Ends on an [End | …] cue.

05

Settings card

Model, Duration, Variety, Style Influence, Weirdness, Max Mode and Vocal Gender for the mode you picked. Slider values are settings, never prompt text.

06

Producer notes

A keeper test to judge each take by, then "If <symptom> -> <exact change>" lines that tell you which section to replace and with what.

This is the package Session Sheet wrote for the brief below in a test run on 2026-10-26. Nothing has been touched up. The checker results under it are worked out when this page is built, by the same code the free checkers run.

Americana, 84 BPM, train-beat two-step feel. Roots band in a wooden room, warm tape, close-miked brushes. Plain-spoken female alto, warm with slight grit, sung conversationally, close-miked and dry-ish, close two-part harmony on choruses. Brushed snare train beat, tambourine on 2 and 4, kick pushes in the chorus. Upright bass walks root-five, locked with the kick. Acoustic guitar strum, resonator guitar fills answering the vocal, pump organ under the chorus, shoo-wop and ooh-wah backing syllables under the verses; resonator slide is the hero, alone in the intro. 4-bar intro; plain-spoken Verse 1, brushed strum; hushed Verse 2, doo-wop syllables; climbing Pre-Chorus; harmonised Chorus, pump organ; resonator Solo; bare Bridge, voice and acoustic; Final Chorus adds high harmony. Lyrics

1,496 / 5,000
[Intro | instrumental, resonator slide over acoustic strum]

[Verse 1 | plain-spoken, brushed strum, doo-wop syllables]
Painted-shut window, cold March day
(shoo-wop)
Aunt Lorraine snaps a trash bag wide
Gran's chair still faces the machine
(ooh-wah)
I slide the button tin aside

[Pre-Chorus | climbing, kick on every beat]
Brass off Grandpa's coat
Red from my school-play bow
Pearl from a christening gown
Aunt says, "Hon, can't keep it all."

[Chorus | harmonised, pump organ, full band]
I kept every button
Told 'em it was junk
Tin's up in my trunk
I kept every button

[Verse 2 | hushed, upright bass, doo-wop syllables]
Noon sharp, the Goodwill van pulls in
(shoo-wop)
Four dents where the Singer stood
Lorraine hugs me, smells like Gran
(ooh-wah)
I hold my breath like I should

[Pre-Chorus 2 | climbing, kick on every beat]
Thimble worn through gold
Chalk stub from her sleeve
Needle in a paper fold
Aunt says, "Hon, can't keep it all."

[Chorus | harmonised, pump organ, full band]
I kept every button
Told 'em it was junk
Tin's up in my trunk
I kept every button

[Solo | instrumental, resonator slide takes the melody]

[Bridge | bare, voice and acoustic only]
I never learned to sew
Gran tried, right in this chair
I said "Next Sunday" every time
[pause]
Now the Sundays are mine to spare

[Final Chorus | harmonised, high harmony, full band]
I kept every button
Told 'em it was junk
Tin, needle, spool in the trunk
I kept every button

[End | steel-slide swell, last strum rings out]

Producer notes

Keeper test: the verses stay brushed and intimate with doo-wop syllables audible, the pump organ only arrives in the chorus, and the bridge is clearly voice and acoustic only.

  • If the drums sound like a rock backbeat in the verses -> Replace Section on Verse 1 with: brushed snare train beat, upright bass walking root-five, acoustic strum, plain-spoken female alto close-miked
  • If the doo-wop syllables are missing under the verses -> Replace Section on Verse 2 with: soft shoo-wop and ooh-wah backing syllables, hushed female lead, brushed snare, upright bass
  • If the bridge keeps the full band -> Replace Section on Bridge with: bare acoustic guitar and plain-spoken female voice only, room tone, no drums

How the Styles is built

Nine sentences, in the order v6 listens.

Not a one-box generator

Most prompt generators stop at the Styles box.

Typical one-box generatorSession Sheet
What you getOne block of tags or a paragraph for the Styles box.Six fields: title, Styles, Exclude, cued lyrics, a settings card and producer notes, each with a copy button.
StylesComma-separated genre and mood tags, often adjectives like "epic" or "radio-ready".Sentences that direct each part, in the order v6 reads them. Grading words are lint errors: they describe the record instead of playing it.
Negatives"No autotune" left in the Styles box.Moved to Exclude as category words, and never contradicted by a Styles phrase.
LengthUnchecked; Suno cuts what runs past the limit.Counted live against 1,000 characters. When it runs long, the arrangement's bar counts go first, never the opening or the vocal.
Section tagsBare [Verse] / [Chorus], if any. Each header carries the section's delivery cue, said again in Styles, plus the intro length and an explicit ending.
Names"In the style of <artist>", which Suno blocks or misreads. No artist, song or producer names in any field. A reference becomes the parts that make its sound.
Your soundStarts from zero every time.A sound lane opens every Styles with your locked stamp and voice line, so song ten sounds like song one.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

Is this Suno prompt generator free?
Your first 3 songs are free, with 30 studio actions for re-rolls and edits, no card needed. After that, Pro is $9 a month and Label $19. The Styles checker, lyric checker and prompt upgrader stay free with no account.
Does it work with Suno v6?
It's written for v6: the Styles order, the 1,000-character limit, cues said twice, negatives in Exclude and the More Options settings all follow how v6 reads a prompt. An old v4.5 or v5.5 prompt can be converted, keeping your wording.
What's the Styles character limit, and what happens if I go over?
Suno's Styles field takes 1,000 characters. The generator aims for about 800 so the arrangement fits, and when a draft runs long it shortens in a fixed order (bar counts, then sections, then the mix sentence) without touching the opening genre clause or the vocal sentence.
Can I ask for a song that sounds like a specific artist?
You can describe the sound, but names never reach the prompt: Suno blocks artist names in Styles. "Sound like…" turns an artist, song or era into genre, tempo, vocal, drums, bass and mix words you can edit.
Does it write the lyrics too?
Yes, by default. A writer pass drafts them from the feeling and the hook, an editor pass revises them, and lint checks every line. You can also paste your own lyrics, go instrumental, or write a lyric sheet first and make it a song later.
Why does the settings card say Variety 0?
In Final mode, a higher Variety lets Suno rewrite your Styles. The card gives slider values for the mode you picked; Explore mode turns them up on purpose.
Will Suno follow it exactly?
No prompt guarantees a take. The package is built so v6 has fewer reasons to drift, and the producer notes tell you what to change when a take misses — usually one Replace Section, not a new prompt.
